It was my first time to attend the TOYCON. I’ve been ignoring it since I heard of it several years ago. I decided to attend it mainly because I wanted to take pics. Having been given the opportunity to own a DLSR, I wanted to challenge myself and put my n00b skillz to the test.
I got there at half-passed two. The place was already jampacked and threatened to reek of body odor. I braved the crowd and started to take pics.
Catwoman was the first cosplayer I took pics of. She was sprawled on the floor right in front of the escalator. I took several shots to test the settings on my camera and managed to land this shot (she was hard to photograph as she moved a lot – flash not fired).

I spent most of my time at the conference exit since most of the cosplayers were there. I won’t deny it, I went there to take photos of the cosplayers and not the toys.
I have to admit though, I wasn’t the only one with that mission. About 20 camera enthusiasts were on site, more than half of them sporting full-frame cameras with fuck-expensive gear. A faint-hearted person would instantly cower and refuse to bring out his camera at the sight. I believe however, that gear contributes to a photographer’s success up to a certain extent. There are a lot of enthusiasts with gear that I can only dream about but lack the skill needed in actual photography. May yabang! LOL. Seriously, one needs skill in order to constantly churn out awesome pics. Read more for pics!
Confident in the settings that I chose for the venue, I moved around and saw a guy dressed as Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean.
More importantly, beside Mr. Turner was a sexy girl dressed as some character that I do not know. Take note, she wasn’t wearing any stockings. Kuyukot showing and all. What confidence, I thought.
Before the barrage of photos I am posting, let me mention that I was supposed to meet Fritz and Karen in the conference, but I suppose that like me, they were swallowed by the stale sweat-reeking crowd. UGH.
Okay, enough talk. Here are some of the photos I was able to capture. Please be gentle dear critics as I am a photography n00b.

All in all, I had a blast attending the TOYCON (sans the smell and sweat). I wouldn’t mind going back next year.
Oh and before I forget, my TOYCON experience wouldn’t be complete without COSPLAY Queen Alodia Gosiengfiao. Cheers to the organizers and the staff. TOYCON was a complete success!
